HAPPY HOUNDS RAISE HEAPS FOR HEADWAY

Sunday 25th March saw over 60 cool canines and their walkers gather together for the Headway Essex Hockley Woods Dogathon, joining in the fun and frolics the sponsored walk and fun dog show.

With sponsorship money still coming in it has already raised over £2,000 for the local brain injury charity Headway Essex. The dogs put their best paws forward and took off on a 3 mile walk around Hockley Woods. They also took part in the Fun Dog Show with categories such as most colourful character, waggiest tail and dog and owner lookalike.

“Once all the sponsorship money is in we look forward to announcing who will be crowned our Hockley Woods Headway Hound 2012. A prestigious title awarded to the pooch that raises the most sponsorship. We would like to thank our top dogs and walkers for the amazing fundraising, and all those who helped raise such a huge amount of money to help Headway provide vital services and support to those living with a brain injury and their families throughout Essex. Our grateful thanks also go to everyone who helped make the day so successful including sponsors YourVets and all the Headway Volunteers” said Anna Smith, Fundraising Coordinator.

Headway Essex has been holding Dogathons throughout the County for 15 years. This is the first time they have used Hockley Woods but it was such a fantastic setting they look forward to holding many more there in the future.
