Welcome to YourVets Rayleigh

Meet our Rayleigh team

  • Horserider, gym goer, reader

Since I was a little girl I always wanted to make animals better so I set my heart on becoming a veterinary nurse. Once qualified I worked in a referral center for 3 years and also worked nights as an out of hours emergency nurse too.

I joined YourVets24 in May 2007 and have been here ever since. I started as head nurse and then became the practice manager.

I always wanted to work in a practice that makes a difference but doesn’t charge the earth and I feel that’s what we strive to do at the YourVets24 clinics.

    Michelle Warwick, Practice Manager

  • Dog Owner, Snowboarder

I have worked at the YourVets Rayleigh clinic since 2011. Previously I was weekend Manager at a kennels and cattery, so I have worked with animals all my working life.

I run a lot of the weight clinics at Rayleigh and really enjoy helping the pets and their animals on their weight loss journeys as well as helping owners give the right diets for their pet’s needs.

    Nicola Davis, Pet Health Advisor

  • Cook, Bookworm, Student

I have worked at the YourVets Rayleigh clinic since 2008. I enjoy the variety of case load we see here and interacting with our clients, reassuring them when they are worried about their pets.

I have a cat named Poppy, a Tortoise called Lollipop who is 80 years old and a rabbit called Winston who is 10 years old.

They all have very different personalities and Lollipop chases Poppy which is quiet funny to watch.

    Rachael Smith, Student Veterinary Nurse

  • Photographer, Dog and Tortoise owner

I joined YourVets Rayleigh in July 2009 as a Pet Health Adviser and have since gained an Animal Nursing Assistant qualification. My ultimate goal is to become a Veterinary nurse which is a dream I’ve had from a very young age.

The best part of my job is seeing very sick patients getting better and going home to their families.

    Jeni Jones, Pet Health Advisor

  • Socialiser, reader, constant learner

I have always wanted to work with animals and completed a 2:1 Zoology degree in July 2013.

I enjoy the variety of animals we see here at YourVets Rayleigh and their differing problems and how we help them get better. This I find very rewarding.

I have two (slightly on the larger side) cats called “Luna “and “Pixie” who sleep on my shoes.

    Holly Dunham, Receptionist

  • Dog Owner, Reader, Socializer

I started at YourVets24 in March 2013. I have always wanted to be a veterinary nurse, and have gained experience and confidence since working here. I really enjoy helping animals and making them better, there is nothing more rewarding.

My dog is called “James” he is an ex racing greyhound and a doggy blood donor.

    Esther Purkiss, Registered Veterinary Nurse

  • 3 dogs, 1 cat and 1 rabbit, new home owner, Ski demon

I have worked at YourVets Rayleigh since 2012.

YourVets is a great company to work for, I love the pace of work, and interaction with the pets and the clients!

    Clare Butler, Deputy Head Receptionist

  • Animal aficionado

I’ve always loved working with animals and my house is full of pets too; I have a dog, a 3 yr old Borzoi called Ivan, ten guinea pigs, a rabbit called Badger and a bearded dragon called Clarice.

    Claire Lane, Pet Health Advisor

  • Pet owner, socialiser

Since I can remember I have always wanted to work with animals comforting them and making them better.

I have worked at YourVets Rayleigh since June 2011 and have enjoyed every minute of it. I have learnt a lot and really enjoy seeing the animals leave here bright eyed and bushy tailed.

I have a dog named Belle. She is a Cavalier King Charles. She gets in to mischief but enjoys visiting the team.

    Charlotte Sharrard, Registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Horse Rider, pet owner

I love working at YourVets Rayleigh for the challenge of the pace of work and also being part of such a fantastic team.

When I qualify I hope to one day work with zoo animals and horses as well.

    Aimee Steadman, Student veterinary Nurse

  • Owner of 5 cats, 2 rabbits & 1 fish

I joined YourVets24 at the end of February 2013 and have always wanted to work with animals. From a very young age I always knew that’s what I wanted to do.

I enjoy the team spirit, working together to achieve the same goal – which is helping the animals get better and see them go home wagging their tails.

    Rebecca shakespeare, Kennel Assistant

  • Hedgehog owner, learning sign language

I joined YourVets Rayleigh in February 2013, originally as a maternity cover receptionist but was made permanent which was fantastic. I have always loved animals and have owned most things from horses to tropical fish…and a hedgehog!

I love the part of my job that means I get to interact with the animals and their owners, and working with my team.

    Alicia Kenyon, Receptionist

  • Full time mum, keen runner and  photographer

I had always wanted to be a veterinary nurse, qualifying in 1997 and gaining my medical diploma in 2005. After having a break to become a mum I jumped at the chance to join YourVets Rayleigh. I thoroughly enjoy my job because everyday is different and I am always learning.

I am always able to put my knowledge and experience to good use, there is never a dull day!

Laura Alger, OOH Weekend Veterinary Nurse

  • Dog lover, studying towards an Animal Nursing Assistant qualification

I joined YourVets Rayleigh just over a year ago. I grew up in Essex but moved to Northumberland when I was 21. I worked on various farms with sheep, beef, and dairy cows, and kept my own flock of ex-battery hens in the garden.

I have 3 dogs – a retired border collie, a retired greyhound, and a grumpy old Westie!

    Melanie Denham, Pet Health Advisor

  • Wildlife charity volunteer, hula hooper

I joined YourVets Rayleigh in 2012 after relocating to Essex. I am continuing to play a part in training future veterinary nurses and currently work with 2 students.

I aimed to be a vet nurse from a very young age and love the variety it provides.

Rebecca Rudd, Back of house RVN

  • Bookworm, film fanatic

I joined YourVets Rayleigh in October 2011. The unusual shift pattern appealed to me. I’ve wanted to be a veterinary nurse for a very long time. I enjoy hands-on nursing and inpatient care.

I have a passion for all things feline and have plans to do a diploma in feline nursing.

    Sarah Robertson, RVN
